About Us

South Sudanese Refugees Association (SSURA) is a registered non-profit Community Based Refugee-led Organization incorporated as a company by guarantee by Uganda Registration Service Bureau Reg. #: 80020002855962 and operating in Arua, Koboko and Yumbe. Founded in Koboko – Uganda in September 2016 mindful of the need to protect and promote psychosocial well-being, prevent mental health disorders, promote reconciliation and peaceful co-existence among the refugees and the host communities, creation and promotion of economic activities for self-reliance, advocacy and awareness on legal protection issue for registered refugees who have moved to urban areas and in the refugee settlements. SSURA works with refugees in Koboko Municipality, Lobule refugees’ settlement, Arua City and Bidibidi Refugees Settlement in the areas of Health, Livelihoods, Education and Water and Environment.

Our Objectives

  • To promote reconciliation and peace building activities among the refugees and the host community
  • To create and promote economic activities for self-reliance.
  • To strengthen capacity building programs for effective participation in the refugee’s settlements and urban cities.
  • To advocate and create awareness on legal protection issue for the refugees in the Refugee Settlements and urban areas within the communities in Uganda
  • To lobby and advocate for internal and external support for the association.
